Multi-Percussionist and Drummer, Andi Pema started music at the age of 6 in Albania and continued his studies in music in Athens (1992-1999) where he received a full scholarship at “ Nikos Touliatos” world-ethnic music private school where he studied afro-latin and middle-eastern percussions, and drums. In 1998 he participated at the Greek National Youth Percussion Competition and won the award for best talent.
Shortly after his arrival in Montreal (1999) Andi got accepted at McGill university in classical performance and he took lessons with the great Pierre Belusse, Aldo Maza, Andrei Maleshenko and Darcy Gray. In 2002 he auditioned and got accepted at UQAM university in Latin-Pop performance and took lessons with Pierre Cormier, Luc Boivin, Alain Labrosse, Andre Martin, Michel Dupire…. and many others.
Because of his versatile playing Andi started touring as a percussionist & drum coach with Cirque du Soleil’s show Dralion all over Europe and Japan. He performed over 400 shows.
After the tour he worked at Cirque du Soleil headquarters in Montreal for the artistic formation department as a drum coach and instructor. Andi has studied in Greece with Vagelis Karipis (darbuka-frame drums), Nikos Sidirokastritis (drums), Kostandinos Vorisis (Classical percussions), in New York with David kouckhermann (Riq), in Cuba with Giraldo Piloto and Lali (latin percussions). He has performed in many shows and events such montreal Jazz Festival (7 times participant), Montreal Drum Fest, Les Francofolies, Just For Laughs, Fina Olympic Games, National Day, and many more. He has also performed with well established bands and singers such as: Queba, Boogie Wonder Band, McGill Jazz Band, Arden Arapyan, Zuruba, Samajam band, Nitsa Melas, Gregory Charles, Lynda Thalie, Atomics, etc.
Since August 2014, Andi is the Assistant Bandleader and Percussionist-Drummer of the “HAN SHOW” in Wuhan, China. Directed by the word`s greatest show mastermind Mr. Franco Dragone, a stage performance that exceeds the level of any performance in the world.
